EXTENDED CARE
In order to help meet the needs of busy families, participating Putnam City elementary schools offer an afterschool program. The aftercare program begins when the school day ends. Children must be picked up no later than 6 p.m. Some schools may also offer before care. Earliest drop off times may vary per school.
This convenient program offers a safe environment for children in kindergarten through grade 5. Healthy snacks are provided after school. Daily activities will be planned outdoors (as weather permits), in the computer lab, the gym, action-based learning labs and in the cafeteria. The Extended Care program maintains a fully trained staff.
School participation in this program is not guaranteed. As each school will decide if they will or will not offer the program based on community demand/needs and staffing availability, participating schools may vary yearly. Below are the schools offering Extended Care in the 2021-2022 school year:

ENROLLMENT
Putnam City offers three different types of Extended Care enrollment. Full-time enrollment is for students attending 4-5 days per week. Part-time enrollment is for students attending 2-3 days per week. Scheduled Day Enrollment is available to students attending Extended Care 1 day per week. The day must be scheduled ahead of time. The daily rate is $25.00.
In order to ensure that the program is properly staffed each day, drop-in Extended Care is not available. All students must be enrolled in one of the offered Extended Care enrollment plans prior to attending.

The Extended Care program bills monthly, in advance. Your monthly invoiced amount is calculated by averaging the total amount of school days in the year out over 10 months.

NON-SCHOOL DAYS
The Extended Care program is closed when school is not in session due to holidays, school breaks, etc. There is no school on the days below. Schools may also be closed due to inclement weather.

POLICY AND PROCEDURES
- Children must be picked up no later than 6 p.m.
- Please sign your child out daily.
- For any child picked up after 6 p.m., a late charge of $1 per minute will be assessed.
- After three late pickups by parents or guardians, children may not be able to attend afterschool care.
- In the event a child is not picked up by 6:15 p.m., and Extended Care staff has not received communication from parents or guardians, the proper authorities will be notified that the child has been abandoned.
- An online registration form will be required for each student attending Extended Care.
PAYMENT POLICY
- All fees are due prior to service. A $5 per day late fee is assessed for payments that are more than three days late.
- Those with overdue fees (five school days) will not be eligible for continued participation until balances are paid in full.
- There is no reduced rate or refund for children who are ill or absent. If a child has an extended illness (two weeks+), please contact your school’s Extended Care Director or Financial Secretary to discuss financial arrangements.
- Online payments only
- In the case of an extenuating circumstance, payment via cash or money order will be accepted at the District Administration Office. Schools do not take payment for Extended Care. Checks are not accepted.
GUIDANCE AND DISCIPLINE
- The program will provide a safe, fun environment to students who need after school care.
- All school policies will be followed during Extended Care hours.
- The Extended Care program reserves the right to refuse service to a child who is unable to cooperate with staff and/or other students or who is destructive to property.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
- In case of severe injury or acute illness, 911 will be called and the parent/guardian will be contacted immediately using numbers on file.
- Anyone with reason to suspect emotional, physical, sexual abuse or neglect is obligated by law to contact the Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-522-3511).
